Generac 6023 Pressure Washer Review
*Update – There is a newer model of the 6023, the 6596. Check out our comparison of the current Generac pressure washer models for more info.
The next review will be of another popular Generac Pressure washer, the 6023. This was purchased by my good friend, Dave Stansbury, after he found a good price on this model at a local dealership.
I had ordered this pressure washer when it very much became necessary to clean off my deck behind the house. But this came handy for other cleaning purposes as well. The pressure washer is blessed with lot of power that would strip off even the long embedded mold from any surface.
The engine operates smooth and doesn’t require hard efforts to start. A single pull is enough to get this equipment powered on. It is resistant to cold which became evident when I had kept it open in my garage for days. However, it started normally without any cracking noise.
The overall construction of the Generac 6023 psi 2.3 gpm pressure washer is based for residential purposes. It offers a pressure of 2,700PSI and uses a 196cc Generac OHV engine.
It is provided with an automatic low oil shutdown option which helps in preventing the engine damage when the oil is empty.
First time after months of use it suddenly stopped. I wondered what happened. Then I realized it needs an oil refill.
Also easy startup feature as mentioned before is achieved through the use of integrated un-loader valve. I have no problems in moving around with my spray head.
It provides a greater extensibility by a large hose. Also spray head has an easy to pull trigger and a soft grip which reduces fatigue in hands. While using the 2700, you don’t need to kneel down the ground to connect the hose because it’s given with easy access axial pump.
The equipment doesn’t get easily heated which I think extends its life and durability.
How good is the 6023?
The pressure washer is definitely light weight which helps me to carry around this easily. The versatility of the pressure washer is worth appreciating. It works well on all different kinds of surfaces, house siding, patio, shed, windows, and many others.
My house after using this is clean and neat, mainly my kitchen window which gets a lot of dirt all the time. The Generac 6023 delivers a decent power which avoids unnecessary paint removal problems.
The instructions provided with the box are easy to read and follow. I first found the speed control and choke usage confusing, further I went through the instruction and learnt its proper use. For the first use it just took me 10 minutes to set this pressure washer in place.
The roller provided at the end of the washer helps me in moving around. It can be easily carried around grass, cement, gravel, or any other surface.
Remember to tighten the nozzles properly. Because if you don’t the nozzle would pop out through the high pressure exerted by the washer. Like in my case, I was frustrated finding the nozzle in the grass. Thanks to metal detector helped me finding it.
The Generac 6023 psi 2.3 gpm Pressure Washer is easy to store and prepare for use. The oil given with package is more than enough. So if you are trying to fill it fully in the engine you may overflow it.
The main disadvantage I experienced is the hose holder. It doesn’t keep the hose in place. But it’s adjustable and is a minor issue. Overall this is a reliable pressure washer that works fine at any instant of time without problems.
